International Champions Cup: Liverpool FC vs. Borussia Dortmund

The N.C. Zeitgeist Foundation is very pleased that Borussia Dortmund, after two years of negotiations, had accepted the idea to conduct one of their three ICC-Tournament games in Charlotte. This encounter got a special interesting twist because they wer playing against Liverpool which was coached by the former (and much beloved) Borussia trainer Jürgen Klopp. Dortmund won against the British opponent with 3:1 (two goals were shot by the American top national player Christian Pulisic). The preparation of this game included the foundation of The Borussia Dortmund fan Club of the Carolinas.

At halftime of the League Season in England and Germany, at the end of 2018, the two Opponents of Charlotte were each leading in their specific League: in the Premier League and in the Bundesliga.

To top this: the only two soccer teams of the Bundesliga, ever having played in Charlotte, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern München were the two leading clubs in the Bundesliga at half time of the season 2018/19.
